Royal Blue opal is a synthetic Opal.

Why synthetic opal?? Because synthetic opals last longer and are more resistant than real opal, which can be a bit of a problem child if you don't take care of it. The synthetic opal contains the same chemical composition as a real opal, but with added resin to make it stronger so that it doesn't dry out, crack or split. It takes about 2 years to grow a synthetic opal.
