It is possible that the ship is meant to represent Skidbladner, Freyja's magical ship in Norse mythology. The ship was made by the sons of Ivalde at the bet of Loki, and is one of the objects made in connection with Loki's bet with the dwarves. When not in use, Skidbladner is no bigger than a handkerchief and weighs no more. It can be unpacked in seconds, and no matter which direction it sails, the wind will always blow directly into the sail.
