Hedeby coins were the first Nordic coins, minted in the early 9th century in the Viking town of Hedeby in southern Jutland. Most Hedeby coins are only minted on one side and imitate the Frankish coins from Dorestad. They are also called half-bracteums. From the year 900 and 100 years onwards, Hedeby has had a constant minting. The minting of coins also gained ground in Birka and other Nordic trading towns. (Wiki)
The original coin was found on the Swedish peninsula of Birka around the year 825 and is today at the National Museum in Copenhagen.
